Happy Labor Day!
Just wanted to send a quick update from the Kozels. We have been enduring one of the hottest and driest summers in Texas, PRAYING for a hurricane. The good news is, nobody gives you a dirty look for having dead grass! We had a cold front today, only reached 90! Too cold for the pool!
I have joined the ranks of full time employment, atleast for a bit, as of last week. A friend of ours, works for a company that does contracts with the military for civilians. One of their clients here in San Antonio needs help preparing for an audit. It’s supposed to last roughly 2 months, but I’ve been told that it may lead to a permanent position, so we shall see. It’s downtown San Antonio so, I'll get to deal with downtown traffic and parking. I hope the job is awesome because, this drive is NOT awesome. I’m just super thankful I have a GPS to use. Other than that, I’m still selling Mary Kay and I am now a teacher for the Pre-K childrens church. Fun times!
We’re hoping to work on our back yard this fall and maybe going to a baseball game up in Dallas later this month!
*** I tried to post this last week, but for whatever reason, it wouldn't let me.*****

oh dear....
I was doing "ok" with a once a month post... and now it's been 3 months! Yikes!
Well, let's see...
I’m doing well. Mary Kay is doing very well, and I’m having fun doing it. They have a big crazy annual seminar in Dallas every year, and I’m going to go “drink the Kool-Aid” this year. ;)
Let’s see…what else??? OH, I’ve been helping out with Sunday School at church for Preschoolers! AND, next week our church is doing VBS and I’m the teacher for the preschoolers….haha… CRAZY. It must be a theme…the year Sarah went crazy!
I wanted to join a book club at the beginning of the year and so… I joined two! Why Not??? :) Books so far:
Room by Emma Donoghue
Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen
The Private Patient by P.D. James
The Scent of Rain & Lightning by Nancy Pickard
The Devil in The White City by Erik Larson
We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
And not for book club, but just fun
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
I took all my courses to get my Realtor’s License, so now I just need to take the test.
Dave is doing pretty well. Things are kinda crazy and not as stable as we would have liked for working for Uncle Sam, but he was just offered another position (same place really, just different room) that has more stability. So… of course, that’s good. He’s doing websites on the side also.
I think that’s about it. No kiddo’s yet and of course that’s frustrating… mostly just when people ask. I need to start compiling a list of snarky comments.
And it is getting HOT down here in Texas! The weather man keeps saying high of 99.. I think it's just to keep our spirits up, because EVERYDAY it seems to go over 100!

Happy Anniversary!
On Sunday, David & I celebrated 7 wonderful years of marriage. We went to church and then since I had scrubbed that dang kitchen clean on Saturday, went out to eat... :) We decided to try Freebirds for lunch... VERY good. I'd heard good things about it, but I liked my Chipotle, thank you very much! Then for dinner we decided to really celebrate and go out to Ruth Chris' Steakhouse. When we made the reservation, they asked if we were celebrating anything, so of course we told them YES! :) When we got there, they wished us Happy Anniversary and led us to our rose covered table. The food was awesome as was the service. Top Notch! Then we got a free dessert for our anniversary and they took our picture and put it in a little from for us! Overall, it was a wonderful day!

Snow????
Yep. We got snow in South Texas. Even more disturbing, we got Ice. No Bueno. Everyone stayed home yesterday.
On Thursday, I went to the gym and signed up for the Gold's 12 week challenge. That is of course after I ate a very yummy, very salty Korean lunch! LOL Challenge starts NOW! Got my new tshirt
Basically, they weight, measure and take your picture now and then again in 12 weeks. There are also some webinars with good advise and what not.
My second 5K of the year is on the 19th at Sea World. I'm looking forward to walking/running around that place. Should be fun.
Anybody doing anything fun for Superbowl Sunday? We're having some friends over, making chili and cornbread! The Kozel's are rooting for the Steelers!!!!

Book Club - Goal Met!!!
I went to my first book club on Sunday! Yep, I jumped right into that goal!
Our book was Mennonite In A Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen.
First off, the book was pretty good. I don't think I've ever LOL'd so much while reading a book. It was a little hard to follow her direction sometimes, but overall a worth while read.
The ladies were super nice and nobody sounded like a literary expert, so that was nice. :) Also, they discuss the book for a bit and then drink wine and talk about life in general. So overall, I'm pretty happy! Also found out quite a few of the ladies live in my neighborhood... Additional plus!
I did do the 5K on New Years Day. I really wanted to start the year off with that. I didn't run any though. My asthma & allergies are really bad right now, and I didn't want to push myself anymore. South Texas is blessed with some sort of Cedar Pollen that anybody that has even and inkling of allergies is affected by. It's pretty awful, but allows everyone to bond a little over scratchy throats, water eyes and runny noses... so friggin' awesome. Oh, and the sinus headaches... those are DE-freakin'-lightful.

2011 Goals
1. Continue on weight loss journey. I faltered at the begining of this past year, but I've lost some weight the the last few months of this year. I've become pretty involved with Sparkpeople.com and now I'm a leader for the San Antonio team.
2. Read the bible daily. Thanks to my friend, Jasmine for introducing me to DAB!!! This WILL happen! Infact, I already started it! DAB is Daily Audio Bible.
3. Now that I've found a church, I want to get more involved and make it my church FAMILY.
4. Try out a bookclub. I've always been intimidated by these, thinking I have to get something really deep and profound out of every book. We'll see if that's true.
5. I'd like to go on a vacation this year. As in I'd like to go somewhere with Dave other than Kansas. LOL
6. Take more pictures. 'nuff said
7. Run a mile (I'm so friggin' close on this one)
8. Run a 5K
9. Get organized (my home office is an insane mess)
10. Visit Beth (BF) in Colorado. She's come to see me several times and I have yet to visit her since her wedding. Last time I went, I went for my 1st yr wedding anniversary. Without Dave.. LOL He was in Basic.
11. Get Realtor License.
There you go. 11 goals for 2011.
Should be Epic!

5K's
I participated in my first 5K in the fall of 2007. I just walked it, but I was miserable at the end. I have no idea how long it took to finish it, but it was well over an hour.
This year... I did another one September with some friends I'd met with Sparkpeople (online weight loss site) and we did it in 62 min. But, I didn't feel like I was about to die at the end.... BIG IMPROVEMENT. LOL
I did another one in October with the same friends and we finished it in 53 min. Good improvement.
My third one for the year was on the 4th of this month. Brandyn (my 5k bud) and I decided if we were going to keep improving our time, we were going to have to jog a little bit. I think we jogged for about 7 min total and finished in 49:30. Pretty good.
This last one was the next weekend and I did it solo. At first it kinda sucked being by myself, but then I got in the groove and enjoyed myself. I ran a total of 9 min. During the second run, my shoe lace came untied and then when they handed my water, I choked on it. Super cool moment for me. :) I recovered though and finished the race in 45:32 min. I really wanted to finish in 45 min so considering my shoelaces and the choking, I'll take 45:32. :)
There's another one scheduled for the 1st of January. I haven't decided yet if I'll do that one or not. It's daunting to think I'll have to run more to keep improving my time. Sometime next year though, I hope to be running the whole thing!
Ok, well just wanted to give the offical update on my recent 5K fun. :)
Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas week!
