Merry Christmas!

Well, I hope everyone had a super duper Thanksgiving! We did! I only got Thanksgiving Day off this year but I still managed to pull together a full Thanksgiving feast for Dave and visiting family! GO ME! :) I'm really looking forward to having a full three days off for Christmas.

The job is going well. It was rough at first with the 40 min commute and then I had madatory 10 hours of overtime every week. That kinda wore me out. But, I've switched departments and so I still have a commute (with little traffic) but overtime MAYBE once a week. Not too bad. Management is amazingly better as well, and that makes such a huge difference! :)

We had a Thanksgiving lunch at work and had a dessert contest. Guess who got first place! yeah... it was me. :) I made my Chocolate Lover's Cheesepie. Always a crowd pleaser and I'm glad it came through for me again.

Ok, well I just looked at the clock, so I need to get to bed. Just wanted to send out a post!

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season!

I'm back to work!

So, I finally got around to getting a dang job. :) I mainly wanted to get out and meet some people and also everything we want to do to this house costs money dangit! :) So, yeah. I started this past Monday. The hours are 10-7. It pretty much sucks your entire day but with these hours I avoid the heavy San Antonio traffic. And since it's a 40 min commute w/out traffic, I can appreciate the lack of it. I work for Wachovia, in the home loan dept. I'm a processor for the Loss Mitigation dept. Basically people who want to modify their home loan apply and send their paperwork in. I go through it, organize it, make sure it's all there and signed, make notations in the system and send it off to be imaged. I will say, this job makes me thankful. Every applicant has to send in a hardship letter and some are pretty hard to read. So... anyways, that what I'm doing now.
Dave was gone this week for business, so it was a hard week of adjustment. We'll see how this week goes... :)
Sadly, this also affects our planned trip home for Christmas. Unless Wachovia decides they don't need me afterall, We won't be home this year. Well... we will be home, just not our KS "home" :) I'm pretty bummed, but I'm trying to just be thankful that I was able to find a job is the "awesome, budding" economy.
Dave's parents are coming down right before Thanksgiving and my parents may be coming down for actual Thanksgiving, so we'll have some family holiday time. :)

It's ALMOST fall!

Well, we finally stopped having 100 degree weather here, now it's in the 80's and low 90's. It feels so much cooler!

In Sept we made a VERY short trip home for Labor Day weekend. We went to my cousin's wedding and really couldn't have asked for better weather. It was gorgeous in KS that weekend! We also went to a Royals game, so Dave got his fix. Unfortunately the Royals didn't pull a win for us. Maybe next year.

This week we celebrated Dave's birthday! Happy Birthday sweetie! His favorite gift was from my parents. The sent him a few bags of Guy's potato chips. (you can only get them in the KC area.) He was pretty super happy.

Last night we had some friends come over for Dave's birthday dinner. I totally forgot to take a picture though! I'll have to have them over again I guess. :)

Overall, Sept has been a pretty good month for us. We're slowly adding touches to the house to make it our home. The kitchen is pretty much done and the Living and Dining room are pretty close as well.

It's been awhile

update....

I went home in June but didn't see anyone buy family. We were throwing my cousin, Maureen, a bridal shower so it was all business... except perhaps the visit to the now somewhat famous Oklahoma Joes. Good BBQ if anyone is out for an adventure. Oh, and I also had my first trip to Prydes in Westport. It's a kitchen store and it is AWESOME. So, that was my big thing for June.

July I turned 30. BAH! Actually hasn't been too bad so far... unless someone asks me my age. :) Dave got me an awesome print that I've been wanting for a few years. Prayer at Valley Forge. I'll try to include a picture on here. He also got me a yummy cake. Yum!

My friend Beth, from Colorado, came to see me about a week after my birthday. That was a great time. We took her down to the Riverwalk. I'm afraid poor Beth almost melted away down here. I don't think the temp in Denver had even reached 90 yet, and we've had a record breaking hot summer down here. Last count, we were at 40 days over 100, and that was last week, so.... needless to say, it's HOT down here! Summer is not the time to come visit us! I suggest Jan or Feb when it's bitter cold. It will be in the 70's and 80's down here. :)

We also got Sea World season passes, and have been three times now. It's great down here, because they also have a small water park. Sweet.

Lastly. This past weekend we had some family come into town for a visit. We all met down town and went to the Rainforest Cafe down at the Riverwalk. Then the next day we went to Sea World. Dave and I were pretty tired, but it was so great to see family again.

Next trip home will be Labor Day weekend. That will be for the wedding though, so again, no real time to hang. Although, Dave & I are going to try to hit up the Royals game on Sunday, so if anyone is interested in that, maybe we can coordinate something...?????

So, this is our second guest room. We only have two guest rooms right now because there are no children. Unless you count my cats...which I certainly do! :)

Just what have I been up too????

Well, since I last posted, I purchased my first home. Well... DAVE & I purchased OUR first home. He's the sole bread and butter winner. :) Yeah!

Everything went great with the move. Our movers showed up early (of course) but our realtor met them at our house and convinced them to wait for us. Our closing was scheduled for 9am and the movers showed up just after 8!

We're moved in and Dave started his new position and so far, so good. We're not completely settled in yet, but give me another week.

Last weekend my mom, dad and Aunt Ann came down to Texas to celebrate Easter and see our house. It was so nice to see family. We went up to my grandparents house for Easter Day and celebrated with my cousin and her family. Dave & I were also presented with housewarming gifts! WAHOO! Mom & Dad got us a full set of calphalon pots and pans! NICE. Also, my Aunt Ann got us some different colored bowls. There's a story there I'll save for the next post.

Anyways, it's been going pretty great. We also met our neighbors. The husband is from KC! What are the odds I ask? They invited us over for a BBQ last saturday. Yum!

Ok, that's all for now. I believe you should all be getting our postcard with our new addy soon!

I'm so excited... I gonna be a grown up! LOL

New Home?

Well, we went to San Antonio this weekend to house hunt. We looked at quite a few and put escrow funds down on a new home in a new subdivision! We're very excited to be moving and to be home owners. Now we're just waiting for all offical paperwork from Segovia, then we can call transportation. That's a huge blessing in all this. The military is going to move us one last time. We have to pay the difference between Kansas and Texas, and Segovia may even pay that. So, we're very excited. I'm so excited to have the same address for more that two years!

We're moving to Texas!

Quick update

Dave is getting trasfered to Texas. The unofficial date is April 1, but we don't have the actual date for him yet. I'm just assuming it will be sometime this spring. I'll have to start working to get my southern accent I had when I was younger... start saying ya'll. We're pretty excited though. We have family down there and I have atleast two friends.. :) Lisa W and apparently Colleen. Sweet. I must say... I'm mostly excited about Big Red and H.E.B. LOL And LOTS of mexican food. These are good times. Yeah!

The photo is a picture of Abigail. She jumped on Dave's suitcase right before he left last Sunday. It was cute.

Happy New Year, MLK Day and Pres Obama's first long, long day.

Not a whole lot going on here. I'm pretty sure everyone knows, but just in case, I got layed off. My last day of work was Dec 31st. Happy New Year eh? Anyway. Dave has started his new job at Segovia. It's in Aberdeen, MD and a good 1.5 hour drive from where we live right now, so he's staying at a hotel during the week days and coming home for the weekends until we figure out what we're going to do. I should mention, that 1.5 hour was in the middle of the day so no telling how long it would take during peak hours in the am and pm. Dave seems to like it so far. That's always a good thing. :)

I'm kind of looking for a job. :) I'm not serious about it. Just kind of relaxing and doing a bunch of nothing. That's not entirely true. Everyday at five, I've started to watch Gilmore Girls. I'm a little sad that I didn't watch it until now, but whatever.

So, yeah. Just wanted to let you guys know, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I'm here in Frederick. Totally free to hang out if anyone is in the area. LOL
